Good Discussion,

In my social marketing marketing practice, I talk to a lot of agents...One point not mentioned here is that the goal in social media marketing is to get your friends and fans off of your social networks and onto your marketing funnel after you have first added value on the particular social network.!.

Redirect the conversation to your web 20 website or blog. Having high value content offers can accomplish this. Your goal is to build your number asset which is your email list!...

Use email marketing to further build the relationship. I use an email auto responder that also makes adding audio or video to your emails, website, blog post and social sites easy. See signature for info...But, audio, video help personalize who you are and lead to new appointments...

If you do not have offers yet, think about inviting experts to speak on topics that can help your target audience. This can be a Teleseminar, webinar, a blog post or just record a telephone interview and save it as an mp3...

This was good for me to read. Being an old school agent using only mail and cold calling to get leads, I deserve to get on the web and learn how to use Facebook, my kids and grandkids have been begging me to get myself on there, and twitter, to not only promote myself, but to keep up with family and friends. I always enjoy reading your blog. Thanks again.

Going viral can be very smart, but you need a "reason why" to go viral. In other words ... do you have a really neat video or report to build up your facebook account.

You can do it by putting a video up on You Tube and getting views, and including the URL so people click to your site and you can ask them to join you on Facebook.

Or, even better, is to work with a Partner who you can add value to their clients and get them to send out a free report and part of that process is to get them to join your facebook account.

Facebook is a great way for me to keep up with existing clients and it gives them one more way to stay in touch with me.

I don't tweet.

Good point. I am glad to hear social media is working for you. Face to face is still essential to build a strong relationship quickly and close at at higher ratio.

Thanks for your thoughts,

FB, Twitter, & LinkedIn have been good to me. It's still important, from my experience, to have face to face time. The connections are easier to make online because a much broader group with similar interests tend to congregate and divulge talking points that can be used in conversation once you finally meet them in person.
